Who
My name is Maarten, a young photographer that likes to go out and photograph the wonders of mother nature and the landscapes she has created.
What
I am an aspiring photographer currently focused on building a solid portfolio across four categories: nature, moon, urban, and water. Using my NIKON P600 camera, I aim to showcase the diversity of our world — from the delicate petals of a wildflower to the towering structures of a city skyline. Each category challenges me to see familiar subjects in new ways.
How
My process begins with going outside and discovering the true majesty of our planet. I look for interesting light, textures, and compositions that tell a story. I then add extra detail in post-processing, always striving to achieve the best picture possible. My workflow combines patience in the field with careful attention to detail when editing. My dream is to own a SONY mirrorless camera and high-quality lenses to take my photography even further.
Why
As a photographer, I try to make people feel emotions when looking at a picture. In some cases it could be happiness, in others it could be sadness or wonder. Everyone experiences an image differently, and that is my goal — to create photographs that resonate personally with each viewer. I believe photography is a universal language that connects us to nature, to each other, and to ourselves.
My Journey
I have been photographing for several years, gradually developing my style and eye for detail. What started with a simple interest in capturing pretty scenes has evolved into a deeper appreciation for the art and craft of photography. I draw inspiration from the changing seasons, the wildlife in my local area, and the interplay between natural and urban environments. I am committed to continuous learning and improvement, and I share my progress through this portfolio.
Equipment
My current setup is the NIKON P600, a versatile bridge camera with a powerful zoom range that allows me to photograph everything from distant moon craters to close-up insects. While I dream of upgrading to a SONY mirrorless system with interchangeable lenses, the P600 has been an excellent tool for learning the fundamentals of exposure, composition, and fieldcraft. Photography is not about the gear — it is about seeing the world with fresh eyes and capturing moments that matter.
